ON SNARE IMPROVEMENT

The real question isn’t can you - it’s do you want to. And, like it or not, wanting, in my opinion is not a choice. Don’t take this as a challenge. If we look at the facts, of which I’m not qualified to speak on in the least bit, desire is determined by many things out of our control. I guess I’ll name a few, like ease of access to resources in a social setting (basically whether or not your friends are doing it and if there is education aplenty), brain chemistry possibly enabling a propensity for that subject, and life circumstances allowing for, incentivizing, or dis-incentivizing the study of that subject, such as no other walks of life being available; or the available paths are all perceived as inferior. All of these + much more happened to me and are all anecdotal. Feel free to dive into the inner workings of what makes people tick on your own time. You’ll more than likely come across the concept of flow state.

Not to be confused with Brandon’s I&E (dope), flow state is basically when you’re in the zone. Again, feel free to do your own research. Here are my final thoughts on improvement on snare: of the people it captivates the attention of, it does so to varying extents for all of us. Snare makes up a very large portion of my life and brain space, cuz it’s really all I had/ have. Whether you want to just try it out, or if you enjoy it enough to want to be intermediate, or maybe you find yourself wanting to be advanced at it - whatever level of interest therefore skill level you find yourself at, just remember that none of us chose to be on this rock we call earth and we’re all actively fighting against the cards we’ve been dealt. Honestly, I didn’t really choose to want to dive into the deepest layers that I’ve dove into this - it’s just hitting stuff, it’s not that serious, I didn’t have any master plan or foresight or anything like that, I just really enjoy snare - so please promise me you’ll try not to gauge your intellectual capacity or value to others based on your skill playing this instrument (either in one direction or another - learned helplessness or nobel disease). I see it all too often and can’t stomach the completely wasteful, unnecessary, and avoidable suffering likely inflicted by my student’s learning environments or influences.

What I’ve set out to do here with 3 Step Snare is to offer another option to learn snare, hopefully one that you find puts you in flow state - this was my goal with ranking it by difficulty. I throw around axioms like “either the training is there or the training isn’t there,” and while true, I wanted to take the time to explore the nuance behind what really ends people up in a spot where they’ve become trained or not, because the default assumption seems to be their morals, virtues, drive, winning mindset, IQ, grit, willpower, even hours put in or excessive grinding - no. I can speak from experience when I say that I just like doing this, and it’s become a comfort zone and a good option in life that started working for me so we roll with it. Barring any actual disabilities you may have, which again, I’m not qualified to speak on (see a doctor or something idk) chances are there’s nothing wrong with you in this sense. Everything on my page I say with the intention of speaking to snare enjoyers, so let it be known that at least from my direction, no judgement is cast. I just hope you have a good time while you’re here. Thank you for being vulnerable enough with me to trust me with your education and cultivating the culture of snare - what I know for some, due to its history rooted in strict, rigorous, and often toxic origins - may house a deep wound in need of healing. Yes I am a hippie lol and hey, if none of this applies to you, feel free to completely ignore this! had to be said
